At the time of this op-ed, Virginia has 10,627 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and approximately 146,000 Virginians are unemployed. There are 1,027 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Prince William County, and an estimated 28,700 of our friends, family, and neighbors are out of work.
There is no doubt that this is a tough time for our county, commonwealth, and country. Yet, after observing the fiscal 2021 budget process, I am unsure whether the goal is to create a financial
blueprint that actually helps Prince William County residents or if our elected leaders are simply looking to fulfill their campaign promises.
